INSTRUCTIONS
Week 4:
Project 1 // Part 1: Instructable Infographic Poster
Our task is to come up with our own design of an infographic based on a recipe taken from Pasta Grannies YouTube channel.
After looking throughout her channel, this is the recipe that I chose.

The recipe I chose is Mara's Tiramisu. I chose to do a dessert recipe since I thought it would be easier for me to draw them and I also have a sweet tooth.
I broke down the recipe first and made some research on what I would need to illustrate. I listed them down and tried to highlight the most important parts only.

Visual References
After writing down the materials I required, I went online to search up some references that would be helpful for creating my own infographics in the future.

I used Photoshop to draw out the concepts I had in my head after browsing for inspiration online. I wanted for my recipe to be both pretty detailed and easy to follow. Here are the sketches that I made.

Week 5:
Illustration
I began illustrating the components and tools for my infographic after sketching out my thoughts in illustrations. Semi-realism was the look I was going for. Given that I had never painted food digitally before, I was a little anxious about it. Also, I discovered a tool called the "Smudge tool," which was really useful for blending colours and giving my work a slightly more realistic appearance.
Here is the process of one of the ingredient used to make Tiramisu.
Here is the final result of the illustration of my ingredients.

Week 6:
Poster Illustration
After finishing the illustration part, I started designing some compositions. I wanted to choose colours that would match with the overall theme/mood of my illustrations. I did not want something that would contrast too much or clash with my elements. I also went for a font that would give a vintage but also elegant type of vibe to my poster.
After my first few attempts, I was not very much satisfied of what I did. Hence, I tried to change the colour scheme and went for something that would complement my illustrations rather than merge with them. I tried to go with this colour scheme but also used some additional colours.
Here are my other attempts for my infographic poster.

Final Project 1 // Part 1: Instructable Infographic Poster
After receiving feedbacks from my lecturer, here is what I came up with. I decided to tone down the background, change the font for the steps of my recipe and also put more emphasis on the illustrations.

Week 7:
Project 1 // Part 2: Animated Infographic
After completing part 1 of project 1, we were tasked to create an animation based on the recipe. Therefore, I tried to make a quick storyboard of how each panel would look like.

Then after deciding on the flow of my animation, I proceeded to choose the background music as well and also decided on what effects I would use.
Music chosen: Let's meet in spring (instrumental version) by Han All.

I selected this song because I wanted my video to have a fresh, gentle, and elegant feel to it. I preferred something peaceful and serene rather than anything lively and dynamic.
Here is my first draft version of the animated infographic.

Final Project 1 // Part 2: Animated Infographic
After getting the feedbacks from my lecturer, I worked on my animation again to improve it. I just made a copy of my illustrated files and made the necessary changes there rather than starting over from scratch. Then, I imported the file into my animation to make the changes. Here's the improved version of my animated infographic poster.

FEEDBACKS
REFLECTIONS
Week 6:
Special feedback:
My lecturer said that the pictures could be bigger and maybe have some circle or box behind it in white to give it emphasis. As with the current background, the beautiful deep colour just overwhelms everything in the foreground. The text could also be bigger. And also don't forget to emphasize the important details such as making the measurements, time, etc to either be bold or bigger.

REFLECTIONS
Week 4-7:
Making the poster for the recipe was challenging. At first, when I wanted to do something somewhat realistic, I felt a little anxious. But after all, in the end it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Blending the colours were easier than I thought. The brushes in Photoshop also helped a lot since there is quite a variety which are available. The hardest aspect of mounting the poster was trying to arrange everything such that it would be simple and easy to understand. I became so frustrated with trying to align the words and the elements that I had to stop and just switch to the animation. I eventually managed to come up with a solution to my challenges. Concerning the animation, the fact that I had already illustrated a significant quantity of content was really helpful in helping me save time. The elements weren't as difficult to animate. It was actually fairly simple, but it takes a lot of time. Overall, I wouldn't say that I enjoyed working on this project, but I also didn't hate it.
