LECTURES
Week 7:
Look Development
We learnt about the utilisation of lighting with various rendering engines (Workbench, Eevee, Cycle) and camera to establish a proper visual rendering.

Notes:
- Turn contact shadows for shadow corners which doesn't look nice.
- Turn on bloom for emission (Neon led light type of effect).
- Cycle has a better quality when rendering.

INSTRUCTIONS

Week 7:
Project 1: Hard Surface Modeling
We are to choose any hard surface object from these categories;
1. Vehicle
2. Weapon
3. Robot
4. Machine

From our choice, we need to model them and apply the right texture and material as well as use 'Eevee' or 'Cycle' rendering. Output size is 1280 x 720 with PNG format.

Week 8:
Visual Reference
For my project 1, I have to admit that I wasn't really inspired or excited by the choices given to us. So, I tried to surf around Pinterest to see if I could find some interesting ideas that I could reproduce. I succeeded in doing so and discovered steampunk cars, which caught my attention. I wanted to attempt something new even though I knew it would be a difficult challenge.

Process
I started modeling my vehicle in Blender. I realised after some hours that I underestimated this task a lot and I struggled quite a bit when doing the body shape of the vehicle. I tried to use all my accumulated knowledge since the start of the semester to solve the issues that I encountered. In order to solve a lot the difficulties encountered I had to do a lot of loop cut but also rearrange the wireframes.

Week 9:
After doing the first few parts of my vehicle, I took a break because I was struggling so much that I wanted to give up on this. Of course, I didn't give up in the end and continued to finish this task even if I had to simplify some parts for my own sanity or also ignore the back part of the vehicle where there was a whole motor. The lack of time also was a reason for this or more like I didn't manage my time well enough to replicate everything exactly.

After trying to speed run the modeling part, I had at least some fun colouring my vehicle. I wanted to go for a colour palette that portrayed something elegant and royalistic. I also added a texture to my  tires or else it would have looked too flat. Also, I didn't have enough energy left for me to go and model the tires myself.

Week 10:
Final Project 1: Hard Surface Modeling (Before feedbacks)
I rendered my project using Cycles. I tweaked the settings for the light, shadow and colouring as well via the viewport shading. I also tried to give more dimension to my work by changing the focal length of my camera.

Final Project 1: Hard Surface Modeling (After feedbacks)
I corrected the rendering for the subdivision so that some corners would look clean and sharp.

FEEDBACKS
Week 10:
Good Job.

Week 12:
Make the background the same colour. Try to make some parts more thin.

REFLECTIONS
Week 7 - 10 :
Doing this project 1 made me feel a lot of emotions like frustration and despair. I knew that modeling a vehicle was hard but I definitely didn't expect it to be this hard. I had my fair share of fun for some parts and seeing my vehicle coming to life. Regarding the body of my vehicle, I did learn from my mistakes and realised what I should or should've done from the start. Overall, I'm happy that this hell is over and now onto the next project.
