LECTURES
Week 9:
UV Unwrap and Texturing
We learned how to create UV using projection and auto unwrapping technique to prepare 3D model for texture painting.
INSTRUCTIONS
Week 10:
Project 2: Theme-scene-based Modeling
We are to model a scene based environment on the provided themed concept. The final output will be in a diorama or isometric composition.
Visual Reference
The first idea that popped up into my mind was to do something based on Halloween or a witch's lair. Based on this I went onto Pinterest to find some reference and inspiration.

Week 12:
Process
After collecting enough reference and having a rough idea of what I wanted to model, I started project 2 using Blender. I wanted to design an environment that was reminiscent of a witch's den, filled with a cauldron, some potion bottles, and a few pumpkins. To fit with the idea, I also planned to model a tomb and a magic crystal ball. I didn't want to add a lot since, in addition to not having much time, I also wanted to make it simple and clean.
Week 13:
To model my pumpkin, I watched a tutorial on YouTube so as to get something decent.
After modeling everything, I started to add textures to my objects. I tried to find different covers for my books and also did some UV editing to make it look good.
After adding the textures, which took me a while because I struggled to choose the right wood textures for my table, floor, and wall, I added various lights just like my lecturer suggested. I wanted to go for a dark moody type of ambience since I thought it would match my theme more. I also added some lights inside my pumpkins and tried to use emission to make some of my objects glow.

Week 14:
I tried to look up for some examples of rendered scenes at night. Referring to what I found, I tried to change the lightings of my isometric.
Final Project 2: Theme-scene-based Modeling
Here's the final for my project 2 after making the necessary arrangements.
FEEDBACKS
Week 13:
My lecturer recommended and showed me how to put my light settings in order to create a nice ambience.

After rendering my project, I asked my lecturer for further feedbacks.
- Try to make the background light more blue and try to find references for night lighting on google.
- Usually, you use a mix of blueish and warm lights
- Dim the light for the wall and make it subtle
- Increase the intensity for the window's and cauldron's light so as to put focus on the middle.
REFLECTIONS
Week 9 - 14:
I took a little while to complete this task. Since I had so many things to complete and so little time, I dragged my feet a little on this one. However, I enjoyed working on this project because it was enjoyable to design a room depending on our preferences. Because I could do whatever I wanted and because I was able to discover an abundance of references, I felt quite free while doing this. Since my objects were quite simple and not overly hard, I didn't really struggle all that much to do them. It took me longer to render than I had anticipated, and I occasionally struggled to decide where to place the lights. It was indeed challenging and rather confusing. I was duped when I assumed that rendering would be easy and quick. I took so long to select the proper textures and hues that I became impatient. But after some time, I was able to decide :D Even though I am aware that I can still do a lot better, I am mostly satisfied with what I accomplished.
